Therapy Services
I work with folks who are 16+ for 50 minute weekly or biweekly sessions.
I specialize in working with queer and trans folks and people with complex relationships with food and body image. I also work with folks who are experiencing anxiety, burnout, career and relationship uncertainty, caregiver fatigue and chronic health issues. I am also polyam, kink and sex worker positive.
My therapy practice is a blended approach and I tailor my technique based on what each client is seeking. We might focus on sensation in the body, adjusting behavior, thought patterns, connections to the past and the social and political context. I utilize technique from somatic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment based therapy and community-based treatment for various eating disorders. Humor, tears and anger are all welcome in my office.
I believe therapy is best as a relational and flexible space. Together, we can discover how to make sessions as healing and supportive as possible for you.
I might be a good therapist fit for you if. . .
You are LGBTQ and want to process your identity in therapy and/or if you are seeking therapy for other parts of you in a safe, affirming environment
You are seeking care and support around body image or your relationship with food, size, desirability, etc
You are looking for space to process the ways structural oppression and internalized isms are impacting your relationships, access, etc
You are wanting to get to know yourself, understand how your past has shaped you and process how that impacts your life now
You are working on having boundaries, knowing your capacities and building a life that works for all parts of you
You are supporting someone in your life who is struggling with an eating disorder, depression or other mental health struggle
You are seeking a therapeutic environment that is supportive, direct, genuine and warm
Fees
I currently see clients for $170 per 50 minute session. I have a sliding scale starting at $0 and am happy to discuss what is financially accessible to you. If I am not able to provide low-cost or free therapy for you at the moment, I will do my best to connect you with the care you deserve.
I am in network with BCBS, Aetna, the NC State Health Plan and the Duke Student Health Insurance Plan. I ask clients to double check with their plan that I am an eligible provider. I am not in network with BCBS Blue Home at this time.
First Steps
To get started, please email me at julia@juliavspringer.com including some brief information about why you are reaching out, what your availability is like, what insurance/session cost is available to you and anything else you think I should know about what you are looking for. You are welcome to include as much information as you’d like. I will likely then try to set up a free 15-minute consultation call to discuss more in-depth. If we determine we’d both like to move forward, I will send you some forms to fill out online and once completed, we can set up a first appointment time. The first few sessions will be a continued intake process, mutually determining if we are a good therapeutic fit.
